Foo Fighters Lyrics - Walk (Wasting Light)

Posted by Jesse Torres on

It's About Second Chances

Although we rank Foo Fighter's Walk as the 10th best Foo song ever, it's actually my personal favorite. Few songs have such an immediate and emotional effect on me as this song. I literally go from tears to rage to satisfaction in the span of five minutes.

Walk was released on April 12, 2011, as part of the Foo Fighters Wasting Light album. Dave Grohl says he wrote Walk to describe his experience teaching his child to walk. However, as with any great song and lyrics, the meaning extends far beyond teaching someone to walk.

Foo Fighters Lyrics - Walk (Wasting Light)

This song transports me to those times in my life when I was met with some serious challenges that required some serious overcoming. Even after listening to Walk hundreds of times, within seconds the goose bumps hit my skin and the beast in me awakens, slowly getting me more and more pumped and ready to kick the shit out of the challenge at which I may have failed.

The Foo's Walk is less about teaching someone to walk and more about second chances and risking it all again. It's a song that reminds us that while we may have failed, there's that part of us that refuses to accept failure and wants us to get up off our ass and give it another go.

"I believe I've waited long enough. Where do I begin?"

I recommend you begin by listening to this song and then get up off your ass and get after that "something" that has kept you down or created doubt in your mind. Life can be tough on us. But it does grant second chances to those that refuse to die.

WALK LYRICS

A million miles away
Your signal in the distance
To whom it may concern
I think I lost my way
Getting good at starting over
Every time that I return

Learning to walk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?
Learning to talk again
Can't you see I've waited long enough?
Where do I begin?

Do you remember the days?
We built these paper mountains
Then sat and watched them burn
I think I found my place
Can't you feel it growing stronger
Little conquerors

Learning to walk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?
Learning to talk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?

Now,
For the very first time
Don't you pay no mind
Set me free, again
To keep alive, a moment at a time
That's still inside, a whisper to a riot
The sacrifice, the knowing to survive
The first decline, another state of mind
I'm on my knees, I'm praying for a sign
Forever, whenever, I never wanna die

I never wanna die
I never wanna die
I'm on my knees, I never wanna die
I'm dancing on my grave
I'm running through the fire
Forever, whenever
I never wanna die
I never wanna leave
I'll never say goodbye
Forever, whenever
Forever, whenever

Learning to walk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?
Learning to talk again
Can't you see I've waited long enough?
Where do I begin?

Learning to walk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Learning to talk again
Can't you see I've waited long enough?
